Abstract:Based on the optical transmission principle, the sediment content measurement system uses full immersion measurement, which has the characteristics of large measuring range, high precision, fast response and real-time data display. The system can meet the measurement demands of sediment content in specific rivers and lakes. This paper introduces the measurement principle and composition of the whole system in detail. The comparison experiments show that this technology has high accuracy in practice, and the relative error between measured value and actual value is within 8%. This technology can be used as a new measurement method instead of manual sampling method to measure sediment load. This system has been applied in the measurement cross-section of Xinyi River managed by Hydrology and Water Resources Monitoring Center in Shuyang, Jiangsu Province, to monitor sediment content around the clock. During real-time monitoring, comparison with manual sampling data is carried out, and the difference is less than 10%. Multi-point measurement is also carried out to study the temporal variation curve of sediment content at different depths, and profile of vertical sediment content at the measurement cross-section is plotted.
